Loganberry is the thornless clone of the best known of the hybridberries. Its distinctive flavour and reputation make Loganberry a popular addition to many PYO units. The fruit ripens from mid-July and picking continues until the end of August.

Plant in a sunny position with free draining soil. If you have chalky, sandy or heavy clay soil, improve with plenty of bulky organic matter before planting. Allow spacings from 2m to 3.5m per plant and support the stems using framework or train against a trellis or wall. Apply a layer of organic mulch annually ensuring that this is not too close to the new growth to prevent rotting. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited to ground level whilst the canes which have not fruited should be ‘tied in’ to their supports.
