A virtually thornless, red-fruited gooseberry with excellent resistance to American gooseberry mildew.

The bushes have a vigorous spreading habit and carry sweet, burgundy red, pear-shaped berries in late July. Captivator is Mildew resistant and very cold hardy, having been bred in Canada. This is one of the best dessert varieties available.
